slayeroffice - web experiments gone horribly awry

12.13.2006 - Surprise! More WIM Stuff!

A couple of WIM related things for you today. First are the slides from the talk I gave on it at an internal AOL developer conference a few weeks ago, and the second is a simple demonstration on displaying your away message in a web page.

The presentation was filmed, though I'm not sure at this point if I'll be allowed to make it available to the general public. You can be sure I will if I'm given the okay, and I see no reason why I shouldn't be able to. Word has it that they'll be done encoding the video this week.

The "Away Message" widget is a super short, dead simple example of something small and cool you can do with the WIM API. There is a lot of room for expansion on the idea (display your profile, modify it to show your status regardless of what it happens to be, etc) so feel free to run with it. Apologies for taking so long in getting the demo up after I said I would nearly a month ago.
