01.02.2008 - Three Drawings and a PSA
These three drawings I did leading up to Christmas - I've kept them private on Flickr and not published them here as they were gifts for family and I didn't want to spoil the suprise.
- Clara at 17 Months
- 8 x 10"
- Colored Pencil on Eggshell Mi-Tients Paper
- November 20, 2007
- Big Smile
- 8 x 10"
- Colored Pencil on Cream Mi-Tientes Paper
- December 11, 2007
- Clara at 18 Months
- 10 x 8"
- Colored Pencil on Eggshell Mi-Tientes Paper

And with those, I'll no longer be posting drawings on slayeroffice. 2008 seems a good a time as any to get the site back on the web development talk track. If you're interested in following my portraiture work, you can find it on my new drawing blog. Or, just grab the feed.
I really like your drawings, and will look foward to seeing some more of your work....keep up the good work.

Funny, you write that you are going to get back to writing on web development and I sit here looking at your work wishing I had your (heck ANY) artistic ability.

How on earth do you get the personality across so well in these? The first image of Clara is my favorite...however the expression you highlight in the middle one is...astounding. I really enjoy your work and look forward to more of your original pieces. amazing once again. I don't even want to know how you did the self portrait.

Well not only are you amazing at expressing each minuscule detail but you have to know what your doing....because even the paper you use is like 90bucks a roll. Overall, the first one you really did a great job on the eyes and the reflection. The second, the face and scrunched nose are very "real". The third, who am I kidding I can't draw this good...A+. I am waiting to see what comes next.

Just can't resist going over your site like a photo album. Clara aka.the angry cow is a great muse. Would love to see more of the blues like on the blue eyed tyke. Your site is a joy and an inspiration on rainy days like these.

I know its a portrait but still I can very much tell Clara is a spunky kid, you really got her in detail. I could do little art and would like to add to my skill, can you suggest a how-to book?

The lighting on these portraits is amazing. You have done a wonderful job on truly making your daughter shine in this portrait. I have seen so many artist truly miss one of the most important factors in a portrait - the lighting. It is very easy to overdo and very difficult to get just right - beautiful

Oh my such talent you have got there, I'm so glad that I stumbled on to your site and got a glance of one of your portraits that inspired me to continue on looking, glad that I did. You are an awesome artist, isn't the computer a such great tool in order to show them for the world to see and enjoy. Keep the great work coming, you are doing wonderful!
Best Wishes,
Betsy Buchanan
