slayeroffice - web experiments gone horribly awry

07.31.2004 - Color Palette Creator v1.6

I saw a referal from Dennis to the Color Palette Creator in my access log this morning and saw that he'd created a screen shot compilation of 10 palettes that he had made for his reference. I thought it might be useful (as well as a bit of a time saver) to have the application do that sort of thing on its own.

You can now export all of your saved palettes to a PNG image via the "saved palettes" window. Simply save a color or three by clicking the "save base" button, then view them by clicking the "view saved button". From there, you'll see the "Create PNG" button - clicking that will open a new window with all of the palettes in a PNG.

This next part is very, very important: The image is temporary -- it does not exist on the server. If you want to keep the image, you must save it to your hard drive. Don't bookmark it and don't link to it because the image won't exist for anyone but you. Also, I've noticed that Firefox 0.9.2 is rather touchy about saving the image properly from the right-click context menu, but it seems to be able to manage it from the "File-Save As" (CTRL+S) menu. Earlier versions may exibit this as well. Not sure what the deal is there - if anyone's encountered this with PHP's Image Library and PNG's before and knows of a solution, please let me know.

As always, suggestions are welcome.

That is a spectacular bit of business. Any easy way to incorporate the colour codes into the output file? Thanks!
